Hyperbaric oxygen treatment helped my son with his epilepsy. He has autism/epilepsy and has done 80 hard chamber dives at 2.4ATA when he was 4-5. He hasn’t had a seizure since and he is now 13 and hasn’t taken meds either.
My sister was diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut when she was 2 years old. She was immediately put on a Ketogenic diet and started on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Her seizures stopped and a few years later she was able to come off the diet and the oxygen treatment. I believe they used these therapies instead of and not in addition to any medications. Her mother didn’t want her to have to poison her little body with them and they weren’t working anyway. She’ll be 20 this year and remains seizure free and living a perfectly normal life.
Since every patient is different it is hard to predict the result in each individual case. A large number of cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injured patients – many of whom have seizures – have seen improvement or complete eradication of their seizures with HBOT. We know from 50 years of experience that HBOT is safe and will not make the patient worse. The usual oxygen therapy is once daily, seven days a week for 40 days. If a significant response is noted after 40 HBOT additional treatments may be helpful.
Hi, I live in Tn. My daughter is 8 years old. she had epileptic seizures due to Mitochondrial Disease. We have been doing HBOT since April of this year. Since the second day of treatment, her seizures have stopped. Her vision has improved and appetite has increased. We have a new daughter and a new outcome in life. HBOT has truly changed our daughter’s life.
