HBOT treatments include three phases: Compression, Prescribed Time at Specific Pressure and Depression.
Compression: After you close the door and turn the valve to increase pressure, you will the ambient air circulate. you can feel a “fullness” in your ears like flying or mountain driving we suggest you take a piece of gum into the chamber or drink small sips of water to help release the pressure in your ear. In the Classic Hyperbaric Chamber, you are always in control with the speed of compression by adjusting the valve for your comfort level.
Prescribed HBOT Treatment: Treatment begin when the pressure reaches the prescribed level (each medical condition has its own protocol of treatment). During the treatment you may read a book, rest, even watch a movie on a portable DVD player if you use ambient air only and breath 100% oxygen. There is now much research now of treatment protocol one of the best books available is the oxygen revolution.
Decompression: Once you reach the targeted level of pressure such a 2.4ATA most stay at that level for 60 minutes or on specific protocols 90 minutes is used. Once completed then you slowly release the valve and you can watch the pressure gauge descend in pressure which is comfortable to your ears. ten to fifteen minutes later the depression process is completed and the door is opened.
Length of Treatment: Approximately 1 hour and thirty minutes.
